Invisalign is a clear aligner system that utilizes 3D digital technology to create clear, custom-fitting 'aligners' that gently move the teeth into their final position. Each aligner is worn for about 1-2 weeks before being replaced by the next in the series until the final position of your teeth is achieved.
Invisalign treatment uses advanced 3D computer imaging technology to depict your complete treatment plan, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. As such, we can show you what your teeth will look like at the end of your treatment.

At your complimentary consultation, Dr. Papadopoulos will evaluate your bite and smile and provide you with treatment options. Sometimes, it is preferable to use braces and other times it is preferable to utilize Invisalign. It simply depends on the case and what are the necessary tooth movements!
One advantage of Invisalign clear aligners is that they are removable, allowing you to brush your teeth easily and also allow you to eat what you would like without any food restrictions.

At PapadopSmiles Orthodontics, we take great pride in providing the latest Invisalign technology to the patients of Quispamsis, Rothesay and Saint John.
For this reason, we have the latest digital scanner on the market which takes a 3D video scan of your teeth to get the most accurate digital 'impression' of your teeth. This allows Dr. Papadopoulos to then design your treatment plan using 3D digital tools on our computers so that your teeth can be moved to the exact millimeter and degree! From there, your aligners are customized, fabricated, and delivered to you at your next appointment.
We do not use any alginate (goopy) impressions in our practice. We are 100% digital which increases our accuracy!

We have low monthly payments, do not have large down-payments, ensure there is 0% interest for ALL of our patients on monthly payment plans, accept insurance, and happily can extend monthly payments beyond the estimated treatment time (again with 0% interest).

This is fantastic for patients who are often out of town due to university, work or other commitments. All you need is your smart phone and our complimentary take-home kit which includes a set of plastic cheek retractors.

Dr. Papadopoulos will review each digital scan that you make using your smartphone and will assess the 'tracking' of your teeth within each aligner. He will provide you with specific instructions on what to do next if there is a tracking issue, or simply advise you to continue doing what you're doing.

BRACES VS. INVISALIGN WHICH IS BETTER?
"Should I get braces or Invisalign?"
This is one of the most common questions we receive from our patients! The important thing to remember about orthodontic treatment is that both braces and clear aligners (such as Invisalign) are merely 'tools' that an orthodontist utilizes. The final result of a beautiful smile is crafted by the orthodontist, not by the braces or the clear aligners. Similar to how a talented artist can paint a beautiful picture using a variety of paints, an orthodontist can craft a beautiful smile using a variety of methods!
Sometimes our orthodontist will evaluate a smile and bite of a person and advise them that they should be treated with braces. Other times, we will recommend Invisalign. Most of the time we will advise our patients that either option will work. Dr. Papadopoulos knows what tooth movements are required in each specific case, and will therefore give you an honest answer on what treatment modality is best for your unique bite and smile. Dr. Papadopoulos is a Top1% Diamond plus Invisalign provider and has tremendous experience in treating the most difficult of cases, having treated over 3000 cases so far and counting.
Both braces and clear aligners offer several advantages, and both have their minor inconveniences (not necessarily 'disadvantages').
Braces:
- "Set it and forget it": braces are placed on your teeth and unlike clear aligners, cannot be removed. This makes compliance much easier during the course of your treatment
- Metal or Clear: braces can come in metal or ceramic, so there is some choice when it comes to a more esthetic option
- Require more attention to detail when brushing
- Treatment can be done quicker in some cases (e.g., if a patient chooses Invisalign and doesn't wear their aligners, then a treatment using braces would produce the desired result much faster)
- Certain foods need to be avoided (Dr. Papadopoulos and our team will review this with you in detail)
Clear Aligners (e.g., Invisalign):
- Are removable! This is great for oral hygiene and eating the foods you would like, but also can be a disadvantage since it is up to the patient to ensure they are wearing them 22 hours/day)
- Are more discreet than braces
- Easier to floss vs. braces (simply remove to brush and floss)
- No restrictions on sticky/hard foods
- No possibility of a pokey wire and low likelihood of an attachment coming off
- Require much more patient compliance
- Require extra 'attention' to ensure that the aligners are fitting perfectly
