Whether it be clear braces, Invisalign clear aligners or virtual appointments, we are here to make your smile goals easy for you.
Dr. Papadopoulos is a Top 1% Diamond plus Invisalign provider which means he has treated thousands of patients with clear aligners (Invisalign) and has a wealth of experience to make your smile glow. Whether it be comprehensive care to address significant crowding or spacing, or just fixing that one tooth that is out of place, Dr. Papadopoulos will review each and every option with you to ensure your smile goals are met
We've done our homework and use the most efficient , comfortable and high-quality metal and clear braces. The braces we use allow for a more comfortable treatment with fewer appointments and a highly aesthetic look. Additionally, the braces we utilize are self-ligating, meaning they are much easier to keep clean.
During your consultation we will review each option with you so that our plan not only makes your bite feel its best, but also have your smile look its best.
At Papadopsmiles we deliver on our promise of bringing the very best to our patients. That is why we're investing in the latest 3D printing technologies to give you a perfect, custom fit for any type of appliance using digital impressions (no goop!).
Whether it's customized clear aligner treatment, an expander, retainer or mouthguard, you can be sure that it will fit great the first time.
As a specialist, Dr. Papadopoulos is uniquely trained in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the symptoms that can result of TMJ dysfunction: clicking, popping, jaw pain, limited mouth opening and headaches among others.
He and our team work with other health professionals such as your dentist, other specialists, physiotherapists and massage therapists to solve the root of your discomfort in a collaborative way.
Sometimes orthodontic treatment requires the additional expertise of an oral surgeon to address misaligned jaws or asymmetric jaw growth. Together, Dr. Papadopoulos works with an oral surgeon to best treat your bite and/or facial imbalance if orthodontic treatment alone cannot address your chief concerns.
Dr. Papadopoulos has successfully treated hundreds of jaw surgery patients by collaborating with oral surgeons, but has also had excellent success in camouflaging jaw/facial imbalances without the need for surgery.
It is very important for children to see an orthodontist by age 7, as this is a time when Dr. Papadopoulos can evaluate your child's dentofacial growth pattern. This early checkup helps determine if the jaws are properly aligned, are the correct width, and if the adult teeth are developing properly.
There are times during those elementary years when orthodontic treatment is required with simple appliances such as expanders or removable appliances to help guide a child's jaw growth and avoid severe issues in the future. Both traditional expanders and the new Invisalign palate expander (IPE) are utilized at PapadopSmiles.
This is one of the most common questions we receive from our patients! The important thing to remember about orthodontic treatment is that both braces and clear aligners (such as Invisalign) are merely 'tools' that an orthodontist utilizes. The final result of a beautiful smile is crafted by the orthodontist, not by the braces or the clear aligners. Similar to how a talented artist can paint a beautiful picture using a variety of paints, an orthodontist can craft a beautiful smile using a variety of methods!
However, we still like to answer this question for our patients! Our answer is, "It depends".
Sometimes our orthodontist will evaluate a smile and bite of a person and advise them that they should be treated with braces. Other times, we will recommend Invisalign. Most of the time we will advise our patients that either option will work. Dr. Papadopoulos knows what tooth movements are required in each specific case, and will therefore give you an honest answer on what treatment modality is best for your unique bite and smile. It is worth noting that Dr. Papadopoulos is a Diamond plus Invisalign provider and has tremendous experience in treating the most difficult of cases, whether it be through traditional braces or through Invisalign clear aligners.
Both braces and clear aligners offer several advantages, and both have their minor inconveniences (not necessarily 'disadvantages').
- "Set it and forget it": braces are placed on your teeth and unlike clear aligners, cannot be removed. This makes compliance much easier during the course of your treatment
- Metal or Clear: braces can come in metal or ceramic, so there is some choice when it comes to a more esthetic option
- Require more attention to detail when brushing
- Treatment can be done quicker in some cases (e.g., if a patient chooses Invisalign and doesn't wear their aligners, then a treatment using braces would produce the desired result much faster)
- Certain foods need to be avoided (Dr. Papadopoulos and our team will review this with you in detail)
Clear Aligners (e.g., Invisalign):
- Are removable! This is great for oral hygiene and eating the foods you would like, but also can be a disadvantage since it is up to the patient to ensure they are wearing them 22 hours/day)
- Are more discreet than braces
- Easier to floss vs. braces (simply remove to brush and floss)
- No restrictions on sticky/hard foods
- No possibility of a pokey wire and low likelihood of an attachment coming off
- Require much more patient compliance
- Require extra 'attention' to ensure that the aligners are fitting perfectly
Whether you choose to have your orthodontic treatment completed using braces or clear aligners, one thing is for sure: Our team will guide you through every step of the process, help you select the best option for your case, and ensure that you achieve a beautiful, confident smile.
We look forward to discussing Invisalign vs. braces at your complimentary consultation.
